Frequently Asked Questions

Answers, in one place

  1. What are the payout ratios via Verto escrow?

Transactions are strictly FOB. Payout splits occur within one business day of shipment document verification:

    • All exporters: 99.5% routed to the exporter's Verto wallet · 0.5% flat platform commission to ExportAfrica.
  2. What are the core trust guidelines?

International buyers fund a 100% Verto escrow. Buyers nominate an SGS inspection, and sellers record continuous bagging videos. Risk transfers directly at the ship's rail.

  3. Does ExportAfrica ever hold buyer funds?

No. ExportAfrica handles 0% of transaction funds. All escrow custody, currency conversion, compliance screening, and payout disbursement is performed exclusively by Verto's regulated escrow accounts.

  4. How are sellers and buyers verified?

Every account completes 3-layer biometric KYC — facial capture, USB thumbprint, and government ID scan. The compliance team reviews submissions within 24 hours before a listing or purchase can go live.

  5. Which trade documents are required?

Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, phytosanitary certificate, SGS inspection report, and (where applicable) Halal certification. All documents are scanned by the AI Document Verification Engine before release from escrow.

  6. Who books ocean freight and marine insurance?

Under FOB Incoterms 2020, the buyer books ocean freight and marine insurance. Risk transfers at the ship's rail at the named port of origin.

  7. What happens if a dispute or escrow reversal occurs?

Buyers can raise a dispute directly within the transaction hub. Verto arbitrates using the biometric, document, and shipping audit trail. If escrow is reversed, the buyer keeps the right to leave a verified review, flagged with the "Verified Buyer (Escrow Reversed)" badge.
